COMING OF THE LIGHT - Advent Retreat

The Coming of the Light is a distinctive Advent retreat that speaks to head, heart, and hands. The focus is on the slow, intentional creation of a working lamp from raw materials. As you shape the lamp, you will be invited to reflect on how the themes of this season -darkness, waiting, hope and light - intersect with your own life.

The retreat will end with a shared ritual of lighting the lamps, marking the approach of Christmas.

Who is it for?

This retreat is for anyone who would enjoy the challenge of creating a lamp from scratch whilst exploring the mystery of the season. If you have been considering a retreat at Rivendell but haven’t yet managed it, this might be a great first step! Because of the nature of this retreat, numbers are limited.

Who are the facilitators?

Jennifer Cuthbertson is a member of the Rivendell Community who enjoys making lamps from found objects. Dilly Baker is an experienced retreat facilitator in the UK and member of the Rivendell Community.

Retreat Cost: $300 ($100/day) for food and facilitation PLUS what you can give generously for your private cabin accommodation. (It costs us aprox. $75/night to run our facility). When you come to Rivendell for your retreat, you can pay by cheque, cash or e-transfer at booking@rivendellretreat.org.

Registration Fee: A $20 non-refundable registration fee is taken at time of registration.
